         HEALTH & SAFETY

Nurse Consultant ‑ we employ a nurse who visits us once per week to review and update health records, and to perform health and safety inspections to insure that we are performing in accordance with State health and safety regulations.

 

Health Records ‑ Must be in your child's file upon enrollment, and updated yearly until your child is elementary school age. You will be sent notification when updates are needed.

 

Allergies ‑ Please alert us to any allergies your child may have. There is an area on the enrollment form to list allergies.

 

Illness and Exclusion Policy ‑ please see the attached policy that lists the specifics of our policy. For the health and safety of all the children, we must strictly adhere to these policies.

 

Contagious Illness ‑ All contagious illnesses such as chicken pox, scarlet fever, fifth's disease, etc. will be posted on the main bulletin board and will alert families to the age groups in which the illness was discovered.

 

Medications ‑ New England Preschool Academy, Inc. does not routinely administer medications. The only exceptions to this policy are medications or chronic conditions such as seizures or ADHD, breathing machines for asthma, or emergency allergic

reaction medications, such as epi‑pens. There will be at least one person on staff at all times who is trained under state regulations to administer these types of medications.

Parents should feel free to stop in at any time to administer medications to their children.
 

"MEDICATIONS ARE PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES FROM BEING LEFT IN THE CENTER IN A CHILD'S CUP OR BOTTLE, OR LEFT IN THEIR DIAPER BAGS OR BACKPACKS.

 

Emergency Care ‑ If your child requires hospitalization or emergency care, the ambulance and parent will be called, and the Director or appropriate teacher will accompany the child to the hospital and wait with the child until the parent arrives.

 Holidays ‑ the following holidays are observed at our facility. No tuition adjustments are made for holiday closings.

New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the day prior to a Saturday or after a Sunday holiday will be observed.

 Early Closings: 1:OOPM on both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

 Weather Emergencies ‑ If NEPA has to be closed for the day due to inclement weather, we will have the closing announced on WTIC 96.5 and LITE 100.5, as well as broadcast on First Alert Channel 3 news by 6:OOAM. If we feel the need to close early, we will broadcast this also, and will phone each parent to ask them to come and pick up their children.
